I like videos - saves me from reading! :-) Try this youtube video which explains it quite well:

What you need to remember:

  • Atria receive blood from the circulation (diastole)
  • Ventricles push blood out of the heart (systole)

Hope this helps a little.

hiya,

i am also sitting my exam and these tips might help...

~A before V - the blood enters the atrium before the ventricle (atrium at the top, ventricle at the bottom)

~ pulmonary vein is the only vein to carry oxygenated blood (from the lungs)

~ pulmonary artery is the only artery to carry deoxygenised blood away from the heart (to the lungs)

~ Arteries = away from heart     veins = towards

~ in a diagram, the right side is on the left, and  the left side is on the right (as if you are looking at someones chest)

there are a few more, but if you try to get those you should be ok. :) good luck.
